Millenderdale Wind Farm Fund consultation underway

A planning application for the 7 turbine 21 MW project 6 KM South of Girvan was lodged with South Ayrshire in the Summer with a decision expected by Spring 2015.

GreenPower are now turning to local people to ask how the community fund connected with the project could be best managed to support local initiatives and projects.

GreenPower recently hosted a workshop with community organisations, Community Councils and Councillors in Girvan which discussed experiences of how wind farm funds had worked across the area so far and how the Millenderdale Fund might meet the needs of both rural and urban communities.

Now a wider public consultation has been launched via GreenPower's project website with responses to be submitted by the 8th December 2014.

GreenPower's Head of Planning, Colin Ortlepp said, "We are strongly committed to sharing the financial rewards of our projects with surrounding communities and want long term partnerships that reflect what works best on the ground. We are aware there has been local debate about how existing funds are managed and we are keen to hear how a Millenderdale Fund could meet the needs of communities in the future. It was very clear from our workshop that local communities are motivated and experienced and that a Millenderdale Fund could really boost their work. We would now like to encourage all those with an interest to submit their thoughts to the consultation."
